Network and PoE switches for camera systems

Network switches connect IP cameras, recorders and other devices in a data network. The range includes unmanaged Plug & Play models and PoE switches that carry data and power compatible cameras through a single Ethernet cable. Models differ in the number and speed of RJ45 ports, available PoE outputs, total power budget and uplink configuration; selected switches include gigabit or SFP connectivity, extended-range mode, VLAN or surge protection. When choosing, count all connected devices and their combined power consumption. Check the required network speed, supported PoE standard and per-port output, a suitable reserve in the total PoE budget, uplink type and any rack-mounting requirement. Use a network cable of the correct category and length for reliable transmission.
