These shrink wads are designed to create watertight joints in more climatically demanding environments, e.g. in the engine compartment, where conventional joints are subject to rapid corrosion and consequently the joint breaks. The work with the tape is similar to the work with non-adhesive tape, when heated to 80 - 125°C it shrinks and at the same time the adhesive adheres to the substrate (metal and plastic). After shrinkage, the inner diameter of the tape drops to 1/3 of the original diameter.
