Magnetic antenna bases

Magnetic bases mount a CB or other compatible antenna on a steel vehicle panel without drilling. The range covers diameters from approximately 55 to 170 mm, DV, PL or BNC antenna fittings, and 3 to 4 metre coaxial cables terminated according to the specific model. A larger base provides more stability for longer and heavier antennas, but the limits stated by both antenna and base manufacturers must always be observed. Check the thread or fitting type, radio connector, cable length and the available flat mounting area before choosing. Place the base only on clean, dry and undamaged paint, and keep the cable away from sharp edges. The centre of a metal roof usually offers the best electrical conditions. After installation, tune the antenna and check the SWR, then verify secure attachment before every journey.
